UPDATE: For 2008 spaces are available.

Sunday, October 12, 2008 is our 41st Annual Clifton Day! Clifton Day is a time-honored family tradition. Each year thousands of area residents circle Clifton Day on their calendars in anticipation of another fun-filled family outing. Family and relatives are packed into the car or SUV for a short drive to Fairfax County’s best-kept secret . . . the historic Town of Clifton.

One day a year the residents of Clifton close down the streets and put on their volunteer hats to welcome the general public to their sleepy little town. The streets are lined with vendors and specific areas are cordoned off for special activities such as horseback rides, Civil War reenactments, Arts and Crafts, Antiques, a Flea Market, and the like. It is essentially an old time country fair - complete with live music, historic displays, and barbecues.

By 10:00 a.m. the streets are literally packed with people drawn by a select group of vendors including antique dealers, unique craftsmen, children’s entertainment vendors, and rare collectibles dealers. The average Clifton Day celebration will draw up to 25,000 people over the course of the day. The Clifton Betterment Association (your official host for Clifton Day) has committed to thousands of dollars in promotion this year, including newspaper advertising, radio, and new signage for area byways.

Local charities are the largest benefactors of the day, as food and parking proceeds go exclusively into the coffers of groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Lions, PTA, local churches, and the Clifton Betterment Association (CBA). As the CBA’s largest fundraiser of the year, Clifton Day benefits every charity in the Clifton Elementary School District. The CBA is organized to promote the interests and general welfare of the Town of Clifton in Fairfax County, Virginia; encourage the renovation, restoration, and orderly development of the Town; and sponsor and support cultural and recreational activities in the community.
